looking for a slim, good looking computer table?
marcus had no space for an ordinary computer desk in his living room because they were all too deep, like 60 cm+ (approx 2'). he needed a desk that could be minimized when not used.
marcus writes, "my room had lots of available width but only 40 centimeters depth (approx 16") that i could use. the only option was to make a custom computer desk.
i bought a malm bedside table in oak then i went to the hardware shop and bought roll-in roll-out 'lanes' for my keyboard shelf. the keyboard shelf was made from leftover parts from a pax closet. the malm wheels were removed because i didn't want any movement. this is the result."

fab things you can do with a $7 ikea lazy susan
monica from the magazine, home by sunset has two wonderful hacks using the ikea lazy susan, snudda.
sunburst mirror
you've seen them and you've seen the prices. with an ikea snudda, you can make one of your own. monica stuck wooden teardrops on the lazy susan and painted it white. glue on the mirror last.

big red and baby blue clock
one ikea snudda lets you make two clocks. not bad for a $7 item. firstly, lightly sand the top and sides of the lazy susan. decorate it the way you want to with wooden shapes, stencils, nails - it's up to you. paint and assemble the clock as per instructions.

hackea: mini bedside table
paul from london sent me his 'hackea', what he calls a mini hack. and a cute one too.
paul writes, "i 'hacked' this little bedside table a while ago using an ikea storage box (similar to the fira), four legs purchased from a local diy store and a selection of door knobs. its only practically suitable for low level beds, a bit small for divan beds or similar."

make your kids happy - hack them this art table
happy new year!
we kick off 2008 with this fabulous hack from shisomama! this has got to be by far the best kids' art table. love love love it!

she used a vika persbo table, painted with chalkboard paint. an index curtain rail is attached to the short end of the table to hold the roll of art paper. a magnetic bar keeps the paper down and serves as a tearing edge too.
see the tutorial on shisomama's blog.
