Kitty cat's Clawpole
Materials: Antonius shelf, Ekby Stdis brackets, Hessum doormat, screws, metallic L-brackets, white paint, pole, jute rope, floor protectors, small nails
Description: Since I think most cat-clawing furniture are both really expensive and ugly I decided to make my own.
1.Take the Antonius shelf and cut it in three or how many "floors" you want for your cat. I measured two shelves after about half of the doormat and let the last piece become the bottom plate.
2. Rasp the edges of the shelves so it's smoother. Attach the shelves on the pole at the heights you think your cat would like, with small metallic L-brackets and screws. Attach the bottom plate.
3. Paint the whole thing with colour of your choice.
4. Staple the cut up doormat to the top of the shelf so that your kitty has something to grip on while getting up.
5. Use U-shaped nails to hammer down the jute rope. Start at an appropriate height (the cat won't scratch his nails too far down), and wrap the rope around the pole going up. At some places you might need to secure with an extra nail.
6. Put floor protectors underneath the bottom plate and raise the whole pole against the wall where you want it. Secure it to the wall by using the Ekby Stdis brackets under the shelves.
7. Show it to your cat and amaze over his/her climbing skills and overall joy.
See more of the claw pole.

Standing desk for <$30
Materials: Vika Amon, Vika Curry, Ekby Stodis
Description: Two relevant facts:
- I wanted a standing desk, all the articles about how sitting for hours will kill you were starting to bother me.
- I am CHEAP. And lazy.
So, I got my standing desk this way:
2 Vika Amon table tops - 24"x40" ($5.99 each)
4 Vika Curry legs - ($3.50 each)
4 Ekby Stodis brackets ($0.50 each)
Total - $27.98 plus tax
The regular table I already had assembled, but wasn't using for anything. I purchased the second table top and brackets, screwed in the brackets, and set it on top of the table. Done.
If I were less cheap, I would have used the nice Capita legs (7") instead of the Ekby brackets, but that would have been $10 more. I was lucky that the brackets are 7" tall, which are perfect for me.
The brackets are surprisingly strong, but a warning -- the table top is only solid in the place where the predrilled holes are, everywhere else is filled with paper. So, the copper-colored screw in the pic is in solid wood, the silver-colored one is basically screwed into nothing. If I were less lazy, I would have used a thin sheet of plywood under the table top top to strengthen and stabilize the second screw. As it is, I think it's strong enough for my purposes. I've put a hidden stack of wood and an old IKEA drawer unit (which I didn't buy, btw, it was a gift) under it in case the thing collapses. The rest of the space will be used as storage.
This would actually look really nice with some cord management and some white Apple products. Then again, if I could spend $$$ on Apple products, I would probably get a real standing desk.
So far, despite my laziness, I'm liking standing (mostly on the wobble board you see there). No more legs falling asleep, and less feeling guilty about sitting all day. Some day I may invest in a bar stool -- somebody let me know when IKEA has one on sale for less than $10. :-)

Wall shelf brackets...Nope! Hanging file system!
Materials: EKBY STODIS wall shelf brackets
Description: I saw someone else do this with the EKBY BJARNUM brackets however I didn't want to spend $20 to create a hanging file folder system. Instead I took a little trip to IKEA and came home with the EKBY STODIS brackets instead which were only 50 cents each!
Install the brackets just as you would if you were to install a shelf. Make sure to measure and square the installation correctly. Hang the folders. Simple and nice for a small space by a desk.
