Vate pendant light as a stand lamp
Materials: Vate pendant lamp
Description: My boyfriend is really creative, but until now we had no idea about him being an IKEA Hacker. But now I found this site:)
We bought a VATE pendant lamp once but it was too huge for our small apartment (and to be honest, I really hated the shape as well). Later he added some extra wires to fix the bulb on the other side, and now we have a nice lamp for our reading-corner in the room. We plan to paint it somehow, just wait for the inspiration:) (Did you recognise the GOSIG MUS rat?)
And when it comes to toys: I don't know why, but we always buy some of them when we go to IKEA. Of course later we give them to my nephew as presents, or try to use them somehow... check the last picture;)

Floor Lamp for living room
Materials: Ikea Tived + Vate
Description: I bought Tived from IKEA "as is" corner at USD 15. Vate is new. I bought black cable and bulb socket from another shopping hall as I could not find black cable at IKEA. Simple hack but it is cheap and useful for me.

How to Make a Noguchi-Inspired Mid-Century Modern Lamp
Materials: VTE table lamp, wire, brass tube, wood spheres, spray paint
Description: Isamu Noguchi
IKEA has featured their share of paper lantern-inspired lamps over the years. The most recent rendition is the VTE series, a collection of rice paper shades on steel frames that give an obvious nod to Noguchi. Thankfully, the 9.99 table lamp is perfect fodder to recreate an Akari-alike Beehive lamp. It takes less than an hour, and uses less than $15.00 in materials, lamp included.
See more of Chris' noguchi inspired mid century lamp.
